Seasoned Veterans Form Conn Maciel Carey PLLC, a Washington, D.C.-Based Boutique Law Firm Focused on Labor & Employment, OSHA, and Litigation

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 8, 2014) – Three prominent D.C. attorneys – Eric J. Conn, Kara M. Maciel, and Bryan A. Carey – have founded Conn Maciel Carey PLLC, a new Washington, D.C.-based boutique law firm with a national scope and focus on Labor & Employment, OSHA, and Litigation. The new office is located at 5335 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Suite 660.

“We came together to create a law firm with a new approach to serving our clients’ best interests. We want our client relationships to be more collaborative, driven by the specific needs of the companies and individuals we represent and the unique challenges that they face,” said Mr. Conn. “As such, our client service model will be grounded on providing customized solutions and crafting positive outcomes.”

The three main areas of focus for the firm will include its:

Labor • Employment Group, which Ms. Maciel will chair, will represent employers in all aspects of the employment relationship.  The firm will work to create dynamic solutions for difficult workplace challenges facing employers.  Its employment litigators will defend employers in lawsuits filed in both federal and state courts.  In addition, the Group will advise unionized and non-unionized workplaces regarding management’s rights under federal labor law.

OSHA • Workplace Safety Practice Group, which Mr. Conn will chair, will focus exclusively on workplace safety and health legal issues with attorneys who have extensive, hands-on experience in all aspects of OSHA law, at both the federal and state levels, and who can provide the full scope of occupational safety and health law services to a diverse range of clients.

Litigation Group, which Mr. Carey will chair, has experienced litigation counsel ready to step in when formal judicial proceedings, mediation, or arbitration become necessary to resolve a claim or dispute. With many decades of experience among its lawyers, the firm stands ready to assist its clients in nearly any kind of workplace case, whether an employment matter, OSHA proceeding, or commercial dispute.

“We are excited about this new business venture that we embarking on. Eric, Bryan, and I share the same vision on how we want to practice law and do business, thus combining our expertise, talent, and resources together made so much sense,” said Ms. Maciel. “We look forward to building a solid brand name for our firm among our client base and doing what we know best, providing top-notch service and excellent value to clients.”

“We look forward to growing our firm at a smart and steady pace and will add additional attorneys that fit our scope of service in the near term,” said Mr. Carey. “I look forward to collaborating with Kara and Eric and making our first year as a business successful.”
