Conn Maciel Carey LLP (“CMC”), a national boutique OSHA/MSHA & Workplace Safety and Labor & Employment law firm, is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Atlanta, Georgia, marking a significant expansion of the firm’s national footprint and deepening its commitment to employers across the Southeast. This strategic growth includes the launch of the firm’s Southeast Practice – a dedicated team focused on the region’s rapidly evolving workplace safety and labor and employment legal landscape.
Based in Atlanta, CMC’s Southeast Practice will be led by new CMC Partner Rachel L. Graeber. Rachel has more than 15 years of experience at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of the Solicitor, most recently serving as the Regional OSHA Counsel for the Atlanta Region (Region IV)–the top attorney for OSHA throughout the Southeast. She began her career in Nashville as part of the MSHA Backlog Litigation Unit, a special project established following the 2010 Upper Big Branch mine tragedy. Her extensive background in managing complex litigation and advising on regulatory strategies across the Southeast positions her as an exceptional leader for CMC’s focus in that region.
“Our expansion into Atlanta reflects the significant growth and regulatory complexity facing employers across the Southeast,” said Eric J. Conn, Chair of the firm’s national Workplace Safety Practice Group. “Rachel’s deep experience as an OSHA litigator and strong relationships with the players throughout OSHA and the Department of Labor in that region make her uniquely qualified to guide our clients through the challenges and opportunities ahead there.”
“The Southeast has become one of the most dynamic business environments in the country, with rapid development across high‑priority industries,” said Kara M. Maciel, Chair of the firm’s national Labor & Employment Practice Group. “Establishing a dedicated presence in Atlanta allows us to deliver even more responsive, region‑specific counsel to employers navigating shifting enforcement priorities and regulatory expectations.”
“I am honored to lead Conn Maciel Carey’s Southeast Practice and excited to support employers across the region as they adapt to an increasingly complex regulatory landscape,” said Rachel. “Having spent my career working closely with OSHA, MSHA, WHD and EBSA, I look forward to helping clients anticipate enforcement trends, strengthen compliance strategies, and successfully manage workplace safety and employment challenges.”
The firm’s Atlanta office also served as the home base for CMC’s inaugural Southeast Workplace Safety (OSHA & MSHA) and Labor & Employment Law Summit, which Rachel led in June. This annual program brings together employers, industry leaders, and CMC attorneys to discuss emerging regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and practical compliance strategies tailored to the Southeast.
