CMC’s New Employers Cal/OSHA Rulemaking Coalition Kickoff Meeting
Earlier this week, we announced the launch of a new annual rulemaking coalition for employers and trade groups with significant operations in California – the Employers Cal/OSHA Rulemaking Coalition. Rather than focusing on a single specific rulemaking, this new coalition will tackle several of the high-profile rulemakings that Cal/OSHA and the Cal/OSH Standards Board are or will soon be advancing, including:
- “Enterprise-wide” and “egregious” citation classifications in General Industry;
- Workplace Violence Prevention Standard for General Industry;
- Revisions to both Indoor and Outdoor Heat Illness and Wildfire Smoke Prevention; and, of course,
- Final adoption of some version of a Worker Walkaround Rule.
Conn Maciel Carey invites you to join the virtual Kickoff Meeting for this new Employers Cal/OSHA Rulemaking Coalition next Friday, November 13th at 1 pm PT. We welcome participation from any organizations interested in participating.
At the Kickoff Meeting, we plan to:
- Review the landscape of Cal/OSHA and Cal/OSH Standards Board rulemakings expected in late 2026 and throughout 2027.
- Discuss the rulemakings we recommend prioritizing in the Employers Cal/OSHA Rulemaking Coalition.
- Share preliminary thoughts about positions we recommend advancing in the rulemakings.
- Solicit input about advocacy strategies and information/data that may support our positions.
- Lay out a preliminary timeline for advocacy plans for the coming year.
Also, if your organization is interested in participating in the coalition, please contact Rachel L. Conn, Chair of CMC’s California Practice, or Eric J. Conn, Chair of CMC’s OSHA Practice. Let us know if you have any questions or would like to have a call to talk through our plans and strategy for this annual coalition, the fee for participating, and the various value-add benefits of participating with our group. We look forward to partnering with industry to have a positive influence on these rulemakings.
