Conn Maciel Carey LLP’s California Senior Counsel, Andrea O. Chavez, Recognized in Los Angeles Daily Journal’s 2026 Top 40 Under 40 Rankings

Conn Maciel Carey LLP (CMC), a national boutique OSHA/MSHA & Workplace Safety and Labor & Employment law firm, is proud to announce that Senior Counsel Andrea O. Chavez has been recognized by the Los Angeles Daily Journal as one of California’s Top 40 Under 40 attorneys for 2026. This prestigious annual list honors the state’s most accomplished young lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and impact within their practice areas.

The Daily Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 selection process is highly competitive and based on a review of nominees’ significant legal achievements, complexity of matters handled, leadership within the profession, and contributions to the broader legal and business community. This recognition is widely regarded as one of California’s most respected indicators of early‑career excellence.

“Andrea is one of the most skilled Cal/OSHA and employment attorneys in the state,” said Rachel L. Conn, CMC’s California Practice Chair. “Her ability to manage high‑stakes investigations and craft practical compliance strategies is unmatched. Clients trust her, and this recognition reflects the extraordinary impact she has already made in her career.”

Her nomination noted:

Andrea stands at the top of her field because she combines deep, hands‑on expertise in Cal/OSHA compliance and complex employment litigation with strategic counseling that helps employers proactively navigate high‑risk legal and regulatory environments. Her broad industry experience, coupled with her leadership in safety compliance, rulemaking, and enforcement defense, positions her as a trusted authority for organizations facing sophisticated workplace and regulatory challenges.

Andrea represents employers across a wide range of industries – including retail, construction, technology, environmental services and waste management, and healthcare – in Cal/OSHA enforcement actions, workplace violence matters, complex investigations, and employment litigation. She manages on‑site inspections, defends citations, coordinates with federal and local investigative agencies, and advises employers on workplace safety and employment compliance.

Her recent work includes leading multiple high‑profile Cal/OSHA appeals involving workplace fatalities, complex multi‑agency investigations, and emerging workplace violence prevention requirements under SB 553. She has also secured favorable outcomes in wage and hour class actions, PAGA matters, and discrimination litigation.

“I am honored to be recognized by the Daily Journal and grateful to the mentors and colleagues who shaped my career,” said Andrea. “I’ve been fortunate to work with employers who genuinely want to do right by their employees and helping them navigate complex safety and employment challenges is incredibly meaningful. I’m proud to contribute to CMC’s work in building safer workplaces across California.”
