{"id":1731,"date":"2022-12-01T13:56:56","date_gmt":"2022-12-01T18:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caloshadefensereport.com\/?p=1731"},"modified":"2026-03-20T09:24:53","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T16:24:53","slug":"cal-osha-advisory-committee-offers-updates-on-enforcement-rulemaking-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.connmaciel.com\/calosha-defense-report\/cal-osha-advisory-committee-offers-updates-on-enforcement-rulemaking-and-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Cal\/OSHA Advisory Committee Offers Updates on Enforcement, Rulemaking and More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: revert;\">The Cal\/OSHA Advisory Committee holds meetings throughout the year to provide information regarding its programs and activities.\u00a0 At the most recent meeting, held on November 10, 2022, the public heard updates from DOSH, the Standards Board, and the Appeals Board.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dir.ca.gov\/dosh\/doshreg\/Calosha-Advisory-Meetings\/Agenda.2022-Nov-10.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Capture 278x300\" class=\" wp-image-1733 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/caloshadefensereport.connmaciel.stagingarea.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/12\/Capture-278x300.png\" alt=\"Capture 278x300\" width=\"379\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.connmaciel.com\/calosha-defense-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/12\/Capture-278x300.png 278w, https:\/\/www.connmaciel.com\/calosha-defense-report\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/12\/Capture.png 548w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 379px) 100vw, 379px\" \/><\/a>Here are some highlights from the meeting.\u00a0 A full video and audio recording of the meeting is available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dir.ca.gov\/dosh\/doshreg\/Cal_OSHAAdvisoryCommittee.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cal\/OSHA Chief Jeff Killip noted his goal to try to shift the Advisory Committee meetings to balance providing meaningful data with discussion for a collaborative approach to workplace safety and health.\u00a0 He also shared:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cal\/OSHA is hiring to fill vacancies.<\/li>\n<li>Cal\/OSHA\u2019s heat\/wildfire smoke campaigns included: 250 high heat targeted inspections this season; 299 consultations; 8 bi-weekly calls with Heat &amp; Agriculture Coordination Program; an update to the Heat Special Emphasis Program to address Indoor Heat Hazards; an expansion of the DIR\/DOSH Multimedia Heat Illness Prevention media campaign to include indoor heat; bilingual community engagement liaisons and bilingual trainers meeting with community based organizations, advocacy groups and others.<\/li>\n<li>California had 245 events around 2022 Safe &amp; Sound Campaign in collaboration with Washington and Oregon (week of August 15-21)<\/li>\n<li>Cal\/OSHA also participated in 2 agricultural worker events, a 4-day health symposium, and a 2-day conference for consultation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Cal\/OSHA Deputy Chief of Health and Research and Standards, Eric Berg, provided an update on the status of rulemaking:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The COVID-19 Non-Emergency Rule was noticed in July, with a public hearing in September. There was a 15-day change period at the end of October.\u00a0 The vote on the non-emergency rule will be at the December 15 Standards Board meeting.<\/li>\n<li>The First Aid Kit proposal is working through a number of 15-day change notice periods.<\/li>\n<li>Lead is in stage 1 of rulemaking with DOSH working with Standard Board staff.<\/li>\n<li>Indoor Heat has finished stage 1 of rulemaking with DOSH working with Standard Board staff.<\/li>\n<li>Aerosol Transmissible Diseases Standard is being updated to explicitly mention COVID-19.
