Amanda R. Strainis-Walker is a partner with Conn Maciel Carey. She focuses on occupational safety and health law.


Ms. Strainis-Walker:


  • Represents employers and trade associations in the full range of matters regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act).


  • Manages inspections and investigations conducted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and state and local regulators.


  • Handles the full range of litigation related to contesting citations issued by OSHA.


  • Counsels clients on compliance with all standards set by OSHA, including ones for process safety management, grain handling, lockout/tagout, fall protection, flammable and combustible liquids, machine guarding, and hazard communication.


  • Helps employers develop and audit safety programs and policies.


  • Conducts workplace safety and health training presentations.


Prior to private practice, Ms. Strainis-Walker was a Presidential Appointee at the U.S. Department of Labor as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA, and then as an attorney in the Office of the U.S. Solicitor of Labor, where she advised her clients, OSHA and MSHA, on a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues.
